Chairperson Edwina Crump Zackpah's Kenya Telecom Benchmarking Mission Drives Progress

Recently, Chairperson Edwina Crump Zackpah spearheaded a benchmarking mission to Kenya.

During the visit, she engaged in closed-door discussions with Mr. Ezra Chiloba, the Director General of the Communications Authority of Kenya (CA), along with other Kenyan regulatory authorities and telecommunications stakeholders.

The purpose of these discussions was to explore innovative policy approaches for governing emerging value-added telecom platforms and services. Chairperson Zackpah and her team also delved into strategies for fostering continental collaboration in telecommunications regulation. They extended their gratitude to the Kenyan counterparts for warmly hosting the delegation.

In addition to meetings with key Kenyan regulators and major telecom service providers, such as Safaricom and Airtel, Chairperson Edwina held a constructive session with Mr. John Omo, Secretary-General of the African Telecommunications Union (ATU). They exchanged insights on evolving telecommunications trends across Africa and explored potential training and development opportunities for LTA staff, facilitated by the ATU.

This benchmarking mission to Kenya builds on a prior visit by LTA Commissioners Zotawon D. Titus and James Gbarwea to the National Communications Authority (NCA) of Ghana. These missions are integral to the LTA's overarching strategic goal of harnessing telecommunications and ICT to digitally revolutionize Liberia. This entails aligning the nation's regulatory framework with industry best practices observed in neighboring countries within the region.
